Those who are bound to traditional medicine, also known as allopathic medicine, look at the human body very differently from those in complementary or alternative medicine. Those in the allopathic field rarely view the body as a whole organism. This is demonstrated by medical doctors so specialized they lose the awareness that the human person is more than just a body. There is no longer a sense of the inter-connectedness, the inter-relationship, the oneness of the physical body. What has also been lost is the sense of oneness of consciousness within the physical body.

What did we gain from our experience? We always remained hopeful. When faced with infertility, we always envisioned that we would have children when all signs were pointing to a different outcome. We worked through the MS even though the prognosis was not good. The tumor was just another challenge for us to deal with. In all instances we took control of our own situation and learned as much as we could about infertility, multiple sclerosis and brain tumors. We feel that positive thinking, taking control and learning about what we had to deal with; and using the medical system where possible along with other more metaphysical means of healing, all played a part in our positive outcome. This is why we fully support an integrative approach to any illness.



Empiricists looked at symptoms as a sign that website the body was overwhelmed by toxins or out of kilter with its natural healthy predisposition. They didn't "treat" the symptoms. They used the symptoms as a guide as to whether or not the treatment was working. They believed that the symptoms were the body's natural response, and a necessary response. I want to be very respectful and gentle because dying is a serious topic. However, what if there were alternatives that may help? I cannot speak for you, but it seems to me that if modern mainstream medicine failed me, I would turn to alternative medicine.
